Chromium Carbide Overlay Pipe

A chromium carbide overlay pipe is a composite-structure pipe in which a layer of Cr₇C₃ chromium carbide wear-resistant alloy is overlaid on the inner or outer layer of the base pipe. Its hardness, impact resistance, and high-temperature wear performance significantly outperform ordinary carbon steel and other traditional wear-resistant steel pipes.

Particle Erosion

When ore, coal powder, gravel, or clinker travels through the pipeline at high speed, the particles continuously cut and scour the inner wall, creating a “sandblasting-type” wear pattern.
Even carbon steel and standard wear-resistant steel pipes can rapidly lose wall thickness under this ongoing erosive attack.

Severe Wear at Elbows and Drop Points

At elbows or other geometric transitions, centrifugal force, gravity, and flow redistribution cause coarse particles to concentrate on the outer wall of the bend.
This makes these points the primary hot spots for accelerated wear and the earliest locations to fail.

Large diameter elbow hardfacing range:

Flange Connection
Flange type
